Dear Friends,

Do you still say "Happy New Year" in February 2025? I do! I intend to celebrate all this year with some great trips to Cambodia and Vietnam, Mongolia and Tibet, the Yucatan, Venice, and Ischia. I’m preparing to leave California for my six months abroad in France and Italy, with travel destinations in between.

The recent fire in southern California was devastating to so many. We all know people that were affected. I donated a a plein air piece depicting King Gillette Ranch in Malibu Canyon to a group that is collecting fine art for people who have lost everything. It’s unimaginable the heartache they must be feeling.

For the fifth year, I am honored to participate in the Laguna Museum of Art's big fundraiser of the year, the California Cool Auction. This year I donated Fisherman's Cove painted at high tide after a storm. The auction takes place in early March, and the bidding will be online soon.

I recently taught a fulfilling and rich two-day pastel workshop at the Annenberg Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage. I’m grateful that I’ve been asked to teach in this magnificent garden space for the past seven years; it’s always one of the highlights of my calendar in SoCal.

In the last two weeks of March, I will be painting in residence in the beautiful Botanical Garden of the city of Eze in the south of France. This stunning location overlooks the Mediterranean on a steep mountain, so I am already seeing these paintings with dominant blue backgrounds. My work-in-progress will be exhibited in the municipal gallery just 40 meters from the garden. I will be in the gallery every afternoon, March 15-31 from 2 to 4. Last, but certainly not least, I completed a large commission for my youngest collector. Encinitas Blazing Light is 36x72" in oil and casein on linen.
